Bedok (勿洛) is is one of Singapore’s largest and most established HDB estates. Located in the eastern region, it is part of the South East CDC and is well-connected by the Bedok MRT station and major expressways like the PIE.

Known for its variety of amenities, including shopping centers, schools, and recreational facilities, Bedok provides residents with a complete and balanced lifestyle.

(a) Meaning of Bedok:
The name “Bedok” originates from the Malay word “bedoh,” meaning “drum.” Historically, drums were used in local mosques to signal prayer times, a reminder of the area’s cultural roots.

(b) Origins as a Fishing Village:
Once a thriving fishing village and agricultural hub, Bedok has a history that dates back to the 14th century. The landscape was dotted with coconut plantations and coastal fishing sites until the 1960s, when the area began its transformation into a residential town.

(c) “Two Units” Block:
There’s a unique block in Bedok where it has only two units – Blk 10C Bedok South Avenue 2. The unit type? Executive Apartments. How interesting.
