Marine Parade (马林百列), Singapore’s first HDB estate built entirely on reclaimed land, is located along the southeastern coastline.

Established in the 1970s, the estate boasts stunning sea views, proximity to East Coast Park, and a blend of old and new developments. It’s a highly sought-after residential area with excellent connectivity, vibrant dining options, and an appealing coastal lifestyle.

The three main HDB subzones in the Marine Parade estate:

  • Marine Crescent
  • Marine Drive
  • Marine Terrace

I was just married and was looking for a place to stay and decided to choose Marine Parade even though it was still developing. I took the gamble (1975) and I never regretted it.

I live in one of the blocks by the sea near East Coast Park and the air is fresh, maybe that is why I can live here for so long.

Marine Parade has everything I need, there is no need for me to go anywhere else.

(a) Reclaimed Land:
Marine Parade is the first housing estate in Singapore built entirely on reclaimed land. This large-scale reclamation began in the 1960s, transforming the coastline and allowing for the development of modern residential buildings.

(b) Historical Background:
Before its transformation, Marine Parade was part of the Katong area, famous for its scenic beaches and Peranakan heritage. The coastal neighborhood was known for its beachfront homes and recreational spots, drawing visitors and residents alike.

(c) East Coast Park:
The land reclamation project also led to the creation of East Coast Park, one of Singapore’s most beloved outdoor recreational spaces. Located along Marine Parade’s southern edge, the park offers a variety of activities such as cycling, barbecuing, and water sports, making it a central attraction for residents.

P.S. HDB provides the median rental price for a flat type only if the estate has at least 20 transactions for that quarter. This explains why the line graph for HDB 5-room flats in Marine Parade is almost non-existent. There were less than 20 transactions for most quarters.
